"Perfect Lovers" (Untitled) is Michelle Jane Lee's first show at Rusha & Co., on view September 19 through October 31. The work is built primarily in wax. Skin-like surfaces that take pressure, hold marks, and carry text and images tattooed, carved, or embedded into them, alongside chains that move between adornment and restraint. The title inverts Felix Gonzalez-Torres's "Untitled" (Perfect Lovers), and the show treats love and intimacy as something continually made rather than fixed, drawn from personal encounters, queer histories, and memory. Some works reveal themselves slowly; what stays buried and what surfaces keeps shifting.
